The Candle in the Wind

What started as a spark, A gleam of radiant light Chases out monsters of the dark And burns softly in the night. Who began life as a hopeful child, A beam of luminous delight Had dreams too far fetched and wild, Passion blazed so ever bright. And every day, Brightens the world just a little more Like a candle’s golden ray. The old soul that longs for purpose Is the flickering flame That struggles against the wind. Flickering, fluctuating, wavering, But miraculously holds its ground. It melts steadily and quick, Dissolves and fizzles out, Dying at the wick. It doesn’t last the night, But casts a lovely light. From Ben to Ren: Childhood's End.

“Search your feelings. You know it to be true.” The menacing voice plagued the boy for countless nights, a dark figure loomed over him on a dark, steep bridge so high up that he couldn’t see the city below. As a child he was told to not be afraid of the dark, but it visited him every night. Ever since he felt the Force, the image never left him. He had no idea where he was or the identity of the most terrifying man he couldn’t escape from. But with his mom and dad away, again, there was no one he could cry to at night, no one to comfort him when he needed them the most. With his smuggler father and senator mother alw

The Girl Next Door Epilogue: Ten Years Gone

11/20/83 Dearest Robert, I've attempted this letter for years now. With all that's happened, and with so much I want to say, I didn't know how I could possibly put them all into words...this is just another attempt, I guess. It's hard to believe ten years has gone since all that, since '73 at a time when you've reached your peak, you've just released your fifth album. It's one of my favorites, but then again everything you've made is one of them. Even without speaking to you, I hear your voice every day. I feel your presence with me. It's like you're just right there, as

The Misadventures of Led Zeppelin: Epilogue

The tour dragged on for longer than they expected, new dates being added, more stops, growing crowds. Even with the chaos, they couldn't help to think about back home every once in awhile they could. Back on England land, their own homes, their own beds. Their families who they haven't seen for who knows how long. The time to revisit the memories was short, they could only dream about it at night. Thinking people dreamed about living their lives was insanity to the group. Sure there was money, sure there was fame. Sure there were those massive crowds, but everyone was a stranger. The fun part of it all was just walking outside alone and explo

The Seeds of Change: Chapter 4

There was another light that gleamed bright in this future; those coming from smartphones and radiant screens. Their whole world was just at a touch of a button, a slide of a finger. Every little movement astonished the band; used to turning knobs to change fuzzy channels and stations. Wonder was sparked in the unknown; the remodeled cars that sped along the highway; the advertisements on HD plasma TVs in the store windows. Teenagers passing by; girls with what seemed more like a strip of cloth than a mini skirt with high, leather boots; boys, not bothering to lock hands, with faded jeans sagged down shy past their waistline, their  boxers

An Animal Crossing Story: Chapter 8

Though I haven't kept track of the dates; the animals here sure do. There's a grand clock by the town hall that gongs at every hour. The date is inscribed at the side of every letter I receive from neighbors that have passed on or, "moved away." Corny events are tracked and celebrated by neighbors, just to keep their deluded minds off of ongoing tragedies that go right under their noses. As days drag more and food becomes more scarce; there are just a few trees left in my town with ripe oranges. If it weren't for Horatio's share, I'd be much worse off than I am. Even with these reminders; it's not until the rude awakening of a pounding at my

Up In Flames: Chapters 13-14

~ Chapter 13: Mark ~ I peer into that golden cup, filled to the brim with my father's remains. Thinking about that job in which I start tomorrow. Something to do at least, and it pays too. Maybe that will come in handy someday, even if the real world is endless miles away. I think about that before I close my eyes, attempt once again to sleep. I've been deprived of it for nights. But every time those eyes shut I see the flames. I inhale the smoke, the fumes. It burns my eyes and stings at my lungs. It slowly kills me, cutting me of breath, life. It won't let me gently slip away, it scorches my body relentlessly
